Well now, if yer just settlin’ into Elder Scrolls Online, ye might be wonderin’ where the best place is to start. Don’t worry, I’ll tell ya what I know from folks I’ve heard talkin’. Now, if you’re new to the game, the startin’ area will depend a lot on the expansion you got, but there’s a few spots I reckon are worth mentionin’.
First off, let me tell ya, Bleakrock Isle is a mighty fine place to start. I reckon it’s the best out of all the startin’ zones. A lot of the newer players say it’s the most interestin’ place to get goin’. It’s part of the main quest, and it’s not too big but just enough to get yer feet wet. Now, don’t go thinkin’ it’s just a little village, no sir. It’s got all sorts of adventures just waitin’ for ya to find ‘em. You won’t be disappointed if ya end up there, I tell ya that much.

If ya got the Greymoor expansion, ye’ll be startin’ in Western Skyrim. It’s a fine place, sure, but Bleakrock Isle has that real charm to it. You’ll find yourself walkin’ around with some fine folks who’ll help ya learn the ropes and whatnot. There’s also lots of wayshrines here and there, so ya don’t have to worry ‘bout gettin’ lost too much, though you might still get turned around a bit at first!
Now, if ye got yourself the Aldmeri Dominion expansion, ya might find yerself on Khenarthi’s Roost. Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s bad, but it’s a might smaller than some of the other zones. But don’t let that fool ya, it’s got its own little treasures. The folks here are friendly, and the questin’ is simple enough to get yer start right, though there ain’t as many wayshrines as there are in bigger places. Still, I think it’s a mighty fine place to learn ‘bout the Aldmeri Dominion, if that’s the route yer takin’.
Then there’s the Daggerfall Covenant folks. They get started in a place called Stros M’kai. Now, mind ya, this place is a bit different from the others, but still, it’s a good spot to get yer bearings and find yer way around. The place might be a little more rugged than some of the other areas, but it has a nice charm to it, just like a homegrown village. There’s plenty of good folk here who’ll set ya on the right path, so don’t go worryin’ too much about where you start.
Of course, if yer startin’ with the Coldharbour area, well, that’s the original one. This place is the one that’s tied to the story most directly. After the tutorial, it’ll send ya off to your Alliance’s startin’ island, which is a bit more proper for the lore. It’s a bit more traditional if ye ask me, but it’ll give ya a good sense of where yer headed. So don’t go rushin’ off thinkin’ there’s some shortcut, take your time and enjoy the ride.
Now, I’ve heard tell of a few more spots like Glenumbra, Stonefalls, and Auridon towns, but let me tell ya, they’re more like big cities. I reckon it’s easy to get lost in places like that, so I’d say it’s best to keep yer feet on the ground and maybe head to some of them smaller places I told ya about earlier. Trust me, it’s better that way. When yer just startin’, less is more, I always say.
In the end, it don’t really matter where ya start. Every place has somethin’ special to it, and it’s up to ya to make yer own adventure. But I’d sure recommend Bleakrock Isle, Khenarthi’s Roost, or Stros M’kai as fine spots to get started. Ye won’t regret it, I promise ya that!
So, now that yer ready to begin, take a deep breath, gather yer things, and head out there. The world of Elder Scrolls Online is waitin’ for ya, and who knows what kind of stories yer gonna make. Just remember to keep yer wits about ya, and don’t forget to talk to the folks ya meet. They can be mighty helpful, even if they seem a little strange at first.
