Well, let me tell ya, if you got yourself a Hitmonlee in Pokémon GO, you’ve got yourself a fighter. It ain’t the biggest or the strongest, but it sure packs a punch when used right. Now, I’ve been around enough to know a thing or two about which moves work best, and I reckon I can help ya get the most outta your Hitmonlee.
So, first things first, when we’re talkin’ about Hitmonlee’s moveset, the most important thing you gotta know is the Fast Move. It’s the move that’ll get you goin’ quick, and you want something that hits fast and hard. I always say Double Kick is the best pick for Hitmonlee. That’s right, Double Kick, real quick and it don’t give the other Pokémon much time to react. It’s a Fighting-type move, and boy, does it hit hard!

Now, for the Charged Move, that’s where things get a little tricky. There’s a few options, but the best one in my opinion is Close Combat. Close Combat is a Fighting-type move, and it’s got that real big power behind it. You land that and the other Pokémon won’t know what hit ‘em. It’s got great damage and can really turn the tide in a battle if you time it right. Trust me, I’ve seen it in action.
But, I hear ya, sometimes Close Combat can be a bit slow to charge up, so if you’re lookin’ for something quicker, Brick Break is a fine second choice. It don’t hit as hard as Close Combat, but it’s a lot faster to use. Plus, it’s a Fighting-type move too, so it works real well with that Double Kick. It’ll get ya some good damage without waitin’ around too long for energy.
Now, there’s also Blaze Kick. I’ve heard people swear by this one, especially if you’re lookin’ for something defensive. Blaze Kick’s got some real good coverage, and it’s a bit tricky for other trainers to dodge. It’s got high power, and I tell ya, it’s no slouch in a battle. But, personally, I still think Close Combat takes the cake for offense.
- Best Fast Move: Double Kick (Fighting-type) – Quick and hard-hitting, it’s the perfect starter for Hitmonlee’s moveset.
- Best Charged Move: Close Combat (Fighting-type) – Big damage, and it’ll knock the other Pokémon out in one hit if they ain’t careful.
- Runner-up Charged Move: Brick Break (Fighting-type) – Faster than Close Combat, but not as powerful. Still, it’s a solid backup.
- Defensive Move: Blaze Kick (Fire-type) – A strong, tricky move that’s good for when you’re just trying to hold on.
Let me tell ya, you gotta use these moves in the right way. Timing is everything. Double Kick’s gonna help you build up energy fast, so you can use your Charged Move. And once you’ve got enough energy, hit ‘em with Close Combat, and you’ll see how quickly that other Pokémon goes down. If you’re feelin’ a little defensive, throw in that Blaze Kick to keep ‘em on their toes.
But, don’t forget, Hitmonlee ain’t the easiest Pokémon to get. It’s pretty rare out in the wild, mostly found in urban areas, so you’ll have to do some walking and hunting to get a good one. Once you’ve got it, though, with the right moveset, you’ll be ready to take on just about anything. Keep in mind, you’ll need to pay attention to the weather too – if it’s a Fighting-type weather boost, then Double Kick and Close Combat are gonna be even better.
So, to sum it up: Double Kick for that fast energy, Close Combat for the big finish, and maybe throw in a Brick Break or Blaze Kick depending on what you’re up against. With this setup, Hitmonlee will be a real force to reckon with. Trust me on that!
