Okay, so I finally decided to tackle my missing January sea creatures in Animal Crossing. I’ve been playing for a while, but I’m kinda casual about it, so there were a few gaps in my Critterpedia. January seemed like a good place to start!
First, I checked a guide online. Gotta know what I’m even looking for, right? I made a little list of the critters I was missing. Turns out, it wasn’t too many!

My January Sea Creature Hunt
- Seaweed
- Spiny lobster
- Sweet shrimp
- Venus’ flower basket
So i load the game And then I geared up. Wetsuit on, of course! No point in freezing my virtual butt off.
Then I started my swim. I usually just wander around the edges of my island, so I figured I’d do the same this time. It is comfortable and familiar to operate.
Seaweed was super easy. I found it almost immediately. I think I actually swam past a bunch before realizing what they were. The shadow size is pretty small and you can found it all day!
Next, I went for the Sweet shrimp, and I found it! Small, fast shadow, also available all day.
Spiny Lobster! I had to chase that one for a bit – large, fast shadow. Got it during its active time, after 9 PM.
And after a long time of diving, I finally got the last one, Venus’ flower basket. I remembered that Venus’ flower basket has a medium, fast shadow and is active all day.
BOOM! January sea creatures: DONE. It actually didn’t take as long as I thought. Now I can feel all smug and complete… until February, at least. Gotta catch ’em all, I guess!
