Alright, so I wanted to get my hands on some core assemblies in Fallout 76. I’d heard they were good for crafting and I was running low on some materials. Figured I’d document the process, just in case it helps someone else out.
Finding a Good Spot
First thing I did was try to remember where I’d seen these things before. I knew they came from specific robots, so I couldn’t just wander around aimlessly. I pulled up the map and started thinking about places with a lot of robot activity.

Watoga, that was it! That place is crawling with robots. It’s a bit of a high-level area, but I figured I could handle it. I fast-traveled over there, ready for a fight.
The Robot Roundup
Once I arrived, it was pretty much chaos. Assaultrons, Gutsy’s, Protectrons, you name it. These robots are all over the place! I started taking them down, one by one. I used my trusty rifle, nothing fancy, just consistent damage.
- Assaultrons: These were the primary targets. They seemed to drop core assemblies more often than the others. Nasty buggers with those head lasers, but manageable if you keep your distance.
- Gutsy’s and Protectrons: These guys sometimes dropped them too, but it wasn’t as consistent. I still took them out, though, because every little bit helps, and I wanted the other junk they carry!
It was a bit of a grind, I’m not gonna lie. I had to keep an eye on my health and ammo, and those robots kept respawning. I went through a good amount of stimpaks and ammo, so be prepared if you go this route.
The Loot! (and some disappointments)
After a good while of fighting, I started checking the robot corpses. The first few Assaultrons I checked, nothing. A bit frustrating, yeah, but I kept at it. Finally, one of them had a core assembly! Sweet! I kept looting and managed to snag a few more over the next hour or so.
It wasn’t a huge haul, but it was enough to get me started on the crafting I needed to do. I also got a bunch of other useful scrap, like steel and circuits, so it wasn’t a total waste of time even when the core assemblies weren’t dropping.
My Takeaway
So, yeah, Watoga is a decent spot for farming core assemblies, but be prepared for a fight. It’s not a quick in-and-out kind of thing. Bring plenty of ammo and healing items, and be patient. The drop rate isn’t amazing, but persistence pays off. You’ll also end up with lots of other robot parts that you could use or sell.
I’m just a regular player sharing my play record that day, so hope this helps a bit, that’s all!
