Okay, so I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons like crazy, and I really wanted to get all the flower hybrids. I’d heard the blue hyacinth was notoriously tricky, so I set out to make it happen. I figured I’d share my journey, bumps and all, ’cause it was a process.
Starting From Scratch
First, I needed the basic hyacinths. I went on island tours to find them. I planted lots of white, red, and yellow hyacinths, hoping for some natural hybrids, but mostly I just got more of the same.

The Hybrid Hunt
Then the real work began. I found a guide, and it recommended to make purple hyacinths, you need to first breed orange ones. So, I put a bunch of red and yellow hyacinths next to each other, in a checkerboard pattern, and watered them every single day. It took a while, but finally I saw some orange hyacinths sprout!
Purple Power (Eventually)
Getting purples was the goal,I planted my precious orange hyacinths together, again in that checkerboard pattern. It took another while with everyday watering. Finally, I saw some purple buds. Took a lots time!
Some Takeaways
- Patience is Key: I’m not kidding the flowers take time to grow.
- Water Every Day: Seriously, don’t skip it. I even got a fancy golden watering can, which I think helped, but who knows!
- Space Matters: Make sure your flowers have room to breed. Don’t overcrowd them!
It was a fun * I get to brag about my awesome flower garden. Good luck with your own flower breeding!
