Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about getting a Burn Drive Genesect in Pokémon GO, and figured I’d give it a shot myself. I’m not gonna lie, it took some doing, but I finally managed it, and I’m here to share my whole messy journey.
Getting Started – The Research
First things first, I had to figure out where to even start. I knew Genesect was a Raid boss, and the Burn Drive was a special version, so I started digging around online. Turns out, it wasn’t just any Raid – it was a specific event!

My Big Mistake #1: I spent a good few hours just wandering around, hoping a Genesect would magically appear. Spoiler: it didn’t. Don’t be like me. Check the in-game news and announcements. These events are timed, so you gotta be on top of it.
The Hunt Begins (For Real This Time)
Once I found out about the actual event dates, I marked my calendar. I even set a reminder on my phone – I was that determined. When the day finally arrived, I made sure my phone was charged, I had plenty of Remote Raid Passes (just in case), and I was ready to roll.
- Charged Phone: Check.
- Remote Raid Passes: Check.
- Snacks: Double check. (Raiding is hungry work!)
Raid Battles Galore
I joined a bunch of Raids. Seriously, a bunch. Some were local, some were remote – I used those invites from online friends like they were going out of style. I even used campfire to find some local group.
My Big Mistake #2: Thinking I could solo these things. Genesect is tough! You absolutely need a good team. I learned that the hard way after losing a few (okay, more than a few) Raids.
It is very important to find a good team with strong players.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
I started paying more attention to the recommended counters. I powered up my Fire-type Pokémon – you know, Charizard, Moltres, that kind of crew. I also started coordinating better with other players in the Raids, making sure we had enough people and the right Pokémon types.
Finally… Success!
After a few days, several, several raids, and a whole lot of Potions and Revives, I finally did it! I caught a Genesect with the Burn Drive. It wasn’t shiny, sadly, but I was still stoked. It was proof that my persistence (and stubbornness) paid off!
The feeling of finally seeing that Burn Drive Genesect in my collection was amazing. All those failed Raids, all that running around… it was all worth it.
Lessons Learned
So, here’s the deal. Getting a Burn Drive Genesect isn’t a walk in the park. It takes time, effort, and a bit of luck. But it’s definitely doable. Just remember to:
- Pay attention to event schedules.
- Team up with other players.
- Bring your best Fire-type Pokémon.
- Don’t give up!
Good luck, trainers! Go get that Burn Drive Genesect!
