Alright, guys, let’s talk about the Ice Furnace set in ESO. I’ve been messing around with this set for a while now, and I wanted to share my experience, from start to finish.
First off, I got my hands on this set. It drops in the Depths of Malatar dungeon, so you will need that DLC. To be frank, the first attempts to get the items was not a walk in the park. The dungeon itself isn’t super hard, but it can be a bit of a grind if you’re specifically looking for certain pieces. The first thing I did was find a group that wanted to farm the item, otherwise I would spend the whole day here alone. I joined a few PUGs (pick-up groups), and we ran the dungeon a bunch of times. My drops were pretty much useless, rings and necklaces. I got pretty lucky in one run and got all the pieces within a couple of hours.

My Initial Thoughts & Tests
Once I had a full 5-piece set, I headed straight to a test dummy. I wanted to see how much extra damage that Flame Damage proc was actually doing. My initial build was a Magicka Dragonknight, and I was already using a lot of fire-based skills, so I figured this set would synergize pretty well.
- I equipped the set.
- I slapped on my usual skills.
- I started whacking the dummy.
Honestly, at first, I was a little underwhelmed. The extra damage wasn’t huge. But then I started paying closer attention to the numbers and the uptime of the proc. It was proccing pretty consistently, especially when I was using abilities that hit multiple times, like Eruption or Wall of Elements.
Fine-Tuning and Real-World Use
After the initial dummy testing, I decided to take the set into some actual content. I ran some solo arenas, did some group dungeons, and even tried it out in some PvP. And, this is where the set really started to shine.
In solo content, like Maelstrom Arena, that extra bit of damage helped me push through some of the tougher rounds. In group dungeons, the added AoE was noticeable, especially on trash * set adds a nice little boost to your overall damage output, and helps with cleave and AoE damage. In PvP, this set was very surprising and good. It helped me to kill many enemies.
So, the Ice Furnace set, it’s not going to magically make you top the DPS charts, but it’s a solid set that can definitely add some punch to your fire-based builds. It took me a little while to figure out the best way to use it, but once I did, I was pretty happy with the results. It’s all about finding the right skills and rotations to maximize the proc uptime.
