Okay, so I finally hit Emerald rank in TFT, and let me tell you, it was a GRIND. I’ve been playing this game pretty casually for a while, you know, just hopping on for a few matches here and there. But recently, I decided, “Hey, let’s see how far I can actually go.” So I started taking things a little more seriously.
My initial climb was… rough. I was bouncing around in Gold, winning a game, then losing two, going back up, then crashing down. It felt like I was stuck in a washing machine of LP. I was trying all sorts of different comps, watching some streams, reading guides, the whole nine yards. I experimented a lot, I felt like I was doing well, but it was a constant up-and-down.

Then, I discovered a few comps that really clicked for me. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit of a one-trick pony at heart. Once I find something that works, I tend to stick with it. So, I started focusing on a couple of specific team builds.
- First, I got pretty good with a Duelist comp. Rerolling Yasuo and making him really strong and tanky. It was pretty straightforward, and when the items aligned, it was an easy top-four finish.
- Then, I got a little bit more advanced and the Challenger is also good choice.
The biggest thing that helped me climb, though, wasn’t just finding a good comp. It was actually learning how to manage my economy better. I used to roll down all my gold every round, trying to force upgrades. Big mistake! I learned to save up, hit those interest breakpoints, and only roll when I really needed to. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
I also started paying more attention to what other players were building. Scouting became my new best friend. If I saw a bunch of people going for the same comp as me, I’d pivot to something else, or at least try to find different units to level up. It’s all about adapting, you know?
The final push to Emerald was a nail-biter. I had a few really good games in a row, getting those sweet, sweet first-place finishes. And then, bam! There it was, that shiny Emerald icon. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie. Now I’m trying a whole bunch of new things. The climb continues!
