Okay, so I’ve been playing a TON of Pokemon Go lately, trying to get my perfect team together, you know? And I’ve always loved the Grass/Poison types, especially Vileplume and Bellossom. They just look so cool! But I was always, like, which one is actually better? So I dove in headfirst to figure it out.
My Vileplume vs. Bellossom Experiment
First, I caught a bunch of Oddish. I mean, a LOT. I wanted to make sure I had enough candy to evolve a few of each, and I also wanted some with pretty good stats to start with. It took forever, walking around my neighborhood, but finally, I had enough.

Next, I evolved my best Oddish into Gloom, and then the real fun began. I used a Sun Stone on one Gloom to get a Bellossom, and just evolved the other one straight up into a Vileplume. I did this a couple of times, so I had a few of each to compare.
Then came the battling! I took my new Pokemon to a bunch of raids and gyms. I wanted to see how they did against different types of opponents, and how quickly they could take down other Pokemon. I made a simple, notes with my phone about how much damage each Pokemon did, and how much damage they took. Nothing fancy, just some quick observations like “Vileplume took down that Water-type fast!” or “Bellossom fainted pretty quick against a Fire-type.”
- Vileplume: Seemed to do more damage overall, especially with those Poison attacks. Great for taking down Water and Fairy types.
- Bellossom: Felt a little weaker, to be honest. Its attacks did do some good, but not as much as Vileplume.
After all this playing, my feeling is that Vileplume is generally the stronger choice. It just hits harder, you know? Bellossom is still nice, and definitely cuter, but if you want pure power, Vileplume seems to be the way to go. I did get my perfect Vileplume in the end!
Anyway, that’s just my experience. Go, find it yourself!
