Alright, so I wanted to get my Bahrain setup dialed in for F1 24 on my controller. Here’s how I went about it, and what I ended up with. Hopefully, this helps someone else out there!
Starting Point: The Default Setup
First, I just jumped into a Time Trial at Bahrain to get a feel for the default setup. Honestly, it wasn’t terrible, but the car felt a little sluggish in the corners, especially the slower ones. It was understeering like crazy, which I hate.
Tweaking the Aero
My first move was to adjust the aerodynamics. I figured I’d try to get the car to rotate better.
- Front Wing:I increased front downforce.
- Rear Wing:And I reduce rear downforce.
Did a few more laps. It helped a bit with the turn-in, but the car felt a little too loose on corner exit. I was getting some oversteer, which can be fun, but not fast.
Suspension Geometry Adjustments
Okay, so aero helped a little, now let adjust suspension geometry.
- Camber:I set front and rear camber.
- Toe:I set Front toe-out and rear toe-in.
Back on track. The car felt much more responsive now! Turn-in was sharp, and I could carry more speed through the corners. The oversteer was mostly gone, but I felt like I could still improve the stability on the exit.
Suspension Stiffness
Time to mess with the suspension stiffness. I usually try to keep things relatively balanced.
- Front/Rear Suspension:I adjust front suspension and rear suspension.
- Front/Rear Anti-Roll Bars:I set it.
Another test run. Better! The car felt more planted on corner exit, and I wasn’t losing the rear end as much. But…it was a little too stiff overall. The car was bouncing a bit over the kerbs, and I felt like I was losing some grip.
Ride Height
Last major thing to adjust was the ride height. I wanted to lower the car to get a bit more speed on the straights, but without bottoming out.
- Front/Rear Ride Height:I set front and rear ride height.
Final test laps. Perfect! The car felt great. Good balance, responsive, and fast. I was able to set a much better lap time than with the default setup.
Brakes and Differential
I didn’t mess with the brakes and differential to much.
- Brake Pressure:I set it.
- Brake Bias:I adjusted the bias forward a bit.
- On Throttle/Off Throttle:I adjusted on throttle and off throttle.
Final Thoughts
It took a bit of trial and error, but I’m happy with how the car handles now. The key was to make small adjustments and test after each change. And that setting of ride height, it made the car faster on the straights. It’s not perfect, and it might not be the fastest setup for everyone, but it works for me and my driving style. Remember, the best setup is the one that feels good to you.
