Alright, so I wanted to mess around with the “Betray Dex” thing in Cyberpunk 2077. I’d heard about it, seen some stuff online, but wanted to see if I could pull it off myself. Here’s how it went down:
First, I loaded up the game and made sure I was at the right point in the story. You gotta be in Act 2, after the whole heist mess. Specifically, you need to have completed the “Double Life” mission, which is when you first meet the Voodoo Boys.

The Setup
I followed the main story until I got to the “M’ap Tann Pelen” mission. This is where things get interesting. The Voodoo Boys want you to jack into the Animals’ network during a meeting at the GIM (Grand Imperial Mall). Here’s what I did:
- I played along with the Voodoo Boys’ plan at first.
- I went to the GIM and met with Placide’s contact, the NetWatch agent.
- Instead of just following the agent’s instructions, I listened to everything he said. He offers you a deal to betray the Voodoo Boys.
Making the Choice
This is the crucial part. I decided to take the NetWatch agent’s deal. He gives you a clean slate and tells you to jack into the Animals’ network like the Voodoo Boys wanted. But, here’s the twist:
- The agent gives you a virus.
- When you connect, this virus fries the Voodoo Boys, not the Animals.
I went through with it. I jacked in, uploaded the virus, and boom – the Voodoo Boys were toast. It felt kinda brutal, watching them all get taken out, but hey, that’s the choice I made.
The Aftermath
After that, the Animals weren’t hostile anymore, I simply walked through the mall.
I finished the mission by taking to Dex.
It was pretty straightforward, and a lot less chaotic than trying to fight my way through. Plus, betraying the Voodoo Boys felt like a major power move.
So yeah, that’s how I betrayed Dex and the Voodoo Boys in Cyberpunk. It was a cool little experiment, and it definitely changed how the rest of that storyline played out.
