Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this thing called “Atomic Rocket League,” and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I figured I’d share my experience, from start to finish, so maybe you can avoid some of my early screw-ups.
Getting Started (aka The Confusion Phase)
First thing I did was, well, find the darn thing. I’d heard about this custom map or mod or whatever it was, that adds these crazy atomic explosions to Rocket League. I found it from some guys sharing.

After I get it, there are some extra steps to follow. You can’t just download and play, oh no, that would be too easy.
The Installation Hustle
I figured out I needed to get my Rocket League install directory, you know, find the game files on my computer.
I copy and paste the “CookedPCConsole” folder into Rocket League’s “CookedPCConsole” directory. Same process with “TAGame”. Find the directory and paste. Pretty straight forward, really.
Actually Playing the Thing
Booted up Rocket League, ready to see some fireworks. I went into free play, picked my map. Started a match. Now, here’s where things get interesting.
- Boosting: Feels normal at first, but then… BOOM! You leave this massive trail of fire and smoke, and if you hit supersonic, you’re basically a miniature nuke.
- Hitting the Ball: The ball explodes, it does! And when I say explode, I mean like a small sun erupting on the field. It’s glorious and terrifying at the same time.
- Demolitions: Oh boy, the demos. You don’t just bump into someone, you vaporize them. It’s incredibly satisfying, I’m not gonna lie. Even when it happens to me, I can’t help but laugh.
My first few games were a mess. I was mostly just flying around, blowing stuff up, and generally causing chaos. My teammates were probably cursing my name, but hey, I was having fun.
The Aftermath (and Some Tips)
After playing for a while, I started to get the hang of it. I realized that you could use the explosions strategically, to clear the field or to launch the ball with extra power.
It’s still early days, and I’m by no means a pro at “Atomic Rocket League.” But that’s part of the fun, right? Figuring things out, experimenting, and occasionally blowing myself up in spectacular fashion. If you’re looking for something to spice up your Rocket League games, give this a try. Just be prepared for some serious mayhem.
