Okay, so I wanted to snag that special Abra from the recent Pokémon GO event. You know, the one with the boosted shiny odds? Yeah, that one. I’ve been playing Pokémon GO on and off, and shiny hunting is kinda my thing, even if I’m not super hardcore about it.
First, I checked the event details. What time did it start? What were the specific bonuses? You gotta know these things, or you’ll waste your time. It was a Sunday afternoon, three hours long. Perfect, I had nothing else planned.
Then, I made sure my phone was charged. Seems obvious, right? But I’ve been caught out before with a dead battery mid-event. Not this time! I also cleared out some space in my Pokémon storage. Gotta have room for all those Abras, even the non-shiny ones.
Next, I stocked up on Poké Balls. I didn’t want to run out during the event. I grabbed some Great Balls and Ultra Balls too, just in case. Better safe than sorry, I always say. I also made sure I had enough Incense. Incense is key for these events – it draws Pokémon to you, so you don’t have to wander around as much.
Once the event started, I popped an Incense and just…walked. I found a route near my place with a bunch of PokéStops close together. That way, I could spin them for extra items while I was catching Abras. My strategy was simple: catch every Abra I saw. Click, throw, catch, repeat.
The first hour was…okay. I caught a bunch of Abras, but no shiny. My friend, who was also playing, texted me that she’d already gotten two! I was starting to get a little jealous, not gonna lie.
During the second hour I got my first shiny Abra!
- It was so exiting.
- I felt so lucky.
Then, the last hour rolled around. I was still hoping for another shiny, it was almost time over, and I just got my second shiny!
So, yeah, that’s how I spent my Sunday afternoon. Two shiny Abras, a bunch of regular ones, and a slightly sore pair of legs. Totally worth it, I’d say. Now, onto planning for the next event…
