Okay, so I was messing around in Madden 24 today, trying to get better at field goals, and I kept getting my kicks blocked. It was super frustrating! I knew it had something to do with the kick meter, but I couldn’t quite figure it out. So, I decided to do some digging and experimenting.
Figuring Out the Kick Meter
First, I went into practice mode. I figured that would be the best place to, you know, actually practice without the pressure of a game. I started by just trying to get the timing down. You gotta press the button to start the meter, then press it again when it’s in the accuracy zone.

- Power: The first press of the button is about power. The higher the meter goes, the further the kick will, theoretically, go.
- Accuracy:The Second press is where you must try and get as clost to the white line for accuracy.
I messed around with the first press of the power, i found out i can actually make the bar stop where i want it to go before it reaches the top!
My problem, though, was that even when I felt like I had good timing, my kicks were still getting blocked. It took me a while, but I realized I was missing something super important: the angle!
The Angle is Everything
See, it’s not just about hitting the meter perfectly. You also have to make sure the kick arc is low enough to avoid getting blocked by the defensive line. If the arc is too high, even a perfectly timed kick is gonna get swatted down.
So, I started experimenting with pushing the left stick down a little bit before I even started the kick meter. I was basically aiming lower. And guess what? It worked!
By adjusting the angle downwards, my kicks started sailing through, even when my meter timing wasn’t 100% perfect. It was like a lightbulb moment!
Putting It All Together
So, to recap, here’s what I learned about avoiding blocked kicks in Madden 24:
- Practice Mode is Your Friend: Seriously, go into practice mode and just kick field goals until you get the hang of it.
- Power and Accuracy: Get that meter timing down, but remember.
- Aim Low: Before you start the kick meter, push the left stick down slightly to lower the kick arc. This is the key!
It took some trial and error, but now I’m blocking way fewer kicks. I’m still not perfect, but I’m definitely improving. Hopefully, this helps some other folks out there who are struggling with the same thing!
