Okay, so I finally decided to jump into Marvel Snap. I’d heard a lot about it, seen some gameplay, and figured, “Why not?” I downloaded it, went through the tutorial stuff – pretty standard, you know, play some cards, learn the locations, the usual. Then, I started getting into the real game, climbing the ladder, and that’s where this whole “Pool 1” thing came into play.
Getting My Feet Wet
At first, I was just throwing cards down, not really thinking too much about strategy. I mean, I had a basic deck with cards like Sentinel, Ironheart, and Jessica Jones. I was winning some, losing some, totally random it felt like.

I kept opening these “Caches” as I leveled up, getting new cards. I got excited every time I saw a new one! Angel, Cable I don’t remember the order of these cards, but I gradually had a full collection!
Learning the Ropes
Then I started to notice a pattern. I was mostly playing against people with similar cards. That’s when I looked it up online and found out about the “Pool” system. Apparently, “Pool 1” is the first set of cards everyone gets, and the game tries to match you with other Pool 1 players. Made sense!
- Started experimenting: I started playing around with different deck builds. Tried an “ongoing” deck with cards that have continuous effects.
- Reading the locations: Finally understood I should pay WAY more attention to the locations. Some of them can totally wreck your strategy if you’re not careful.
- Snapping smarter: The whole “Snap” mechanic – doubling the stakes – was confusing at first. Started using it more strategically, bluffing sometimes, retreating when I knew I was beat.
Finally Climbing
It was slow going. It took a lot of games, Some frustration, some “aha!” moments. Eventually, I feel I started to get a feel for the meta, even within Pool 1. I learned which decks were popular, what counters to watch out for, and how to play around certain cards.
I think the biggest thing I learned was patience. You’re not gonna win every game. Sometimes you get bad luck, sometimes your opponent just has a better draw. But by sticking with it, learning from my mistakes, and, yeah, grinding a bit, I finally started to see some real progress in the rankings.
Now, I am ready to move beyond Pool 1. Wish me luck, it is a brand new world for me.
