Okay, so I’ve been wanting to customize my Glock for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge and try out a skin. Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First, I spent some time looking at different designs online. There are tons of options, it’s kinda crazy! I finally picked one I liked—a simple, subtle pattern, nothing too flashy. I made the order for a pre-cut vinyl skin.

Prep Work
When the skin arrived, I made sure to clean my Glock really, really well. Any dirt or oil will mess up the adhesive, and you don’t want that. I used some rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth, making sure every bit of the surface was spotless. This took longer than I planned, but it’s for my favorite.
Applying the Skin
This was the scary part. I carefully peeled off the backing from the skin and started with the slide. I lined it up as best as I could and slowly pressed it down, smoothing out any air bubbles as I went. A hairdryer helped a lot here—it made the vinyl more flexible and easier to work with. I used a small plastic tool(it came with the kit)to push out any stubborn bubbles.
- Slide: Took my time, started from one end, and worked my way across.
- Frame: This was trickier because of all the curves and edges. Lots of heat and patience were needed.
- Magazine: Pretty straightforward, just wrapped it around.
Finishing Touches
Once everything was in place, I used an X-ACTO knife(my own, didn’t come with the kit) to trim off any excess vinyl. I went super slow with this to avoid scratching the gun itself. After that, I gave it one last blast with the hairdryer and pressed down all the edges one more time to make sure everything was secure.
The Result
Honestly, it turned out better than I expected! It looks pretty slick, and it feels good in my hand. It definitely gives my Glock a unique look without being too over-the-top. Now all my friends want me to help them to do it, haha.
It wasn’t a super quick project—took me a good couple of hours—but it was worth it. If you’re thinking about doing this, I’d say go for it! Just take your time and be patient, and you’ll end up with something cool.
