Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of Unova Pokémon lately, and specifically, I wanted to get my hands on all those cool Pokémon that evolve through trading. You know, the ones where you gotta find a buddy and swap ’em back and forth to get the evolved forms? Yeah, those.
First things first, I had to figure out which Pokémon even evolved this way. I did some digging, and the main ones I focused on were:

- Boldore (evolves into Gigalith)
- Gurdurr (evolves into Conkeldurr)
- Karrablast (evolves into Escavalier)
- Shelmet (evolves into Accelgor)
The Karrablast and Shelmet thing was especially tricky, since they only evolve when traded for each other. Gotta find someone willing to do that specific swap!
Getting Started
So, I booted up my old copy of Pokémon Black (or was it White? I have both, haha). I started catching the pre-evolved forms. This took a while, running around in the grass, throwing Poké Balls… you know the drill. I made sure to catch a few extra, just in case I messed up a trade or something.
The hardest part? Honestly, it was finding someone to trade with! It’s not like the old days where everyone on the playground had a Game Boy. I put out some feelers on a few online forums. Eventually, I found some folks who were also looking to complete their Pokédex.
The Trading Process
We connected our games.
First, I traded my Boldore. Boom! Instant Gigalith on the other end. They sent it back, and now I had a Gigalith. Sweet!
Next up was Gurdurr. Same deal. Traded it, it evolved into Conkeldurr, and then we traded back. One step closer!
The Karrablast/Shelmet trade was the most nerve-wracking. I sent over my Karrablast, and they sent their Shelmet. We both watched the little trade animation… and bam! My Karrablast turned into Escavalier, and their Shelmet became Accelgor. Success!
The Result
After a few hours of catching, coordinating, and trading, I finally had all four trade evolutions from the Unova region. My Pokédex was looking a lot more complete, and I had some seriously powerful new Pokémon on my team.
It was a bit of a hassle, sure, but totally worth it in the end. There’s something really satisfying about getting those trade evolutions. It’s like a little cooperative quest you go on with another trainer. It makes me miss the old days, link cable in hand.
