Okay, so I’ve been grinding the Vanguard Ranked Play, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. Here’s how it all went down, from zero to, well, not quite hero, but I climbed a bit!
First, I jumped in, completely clueless. I mean, I’ve played Call of Duty before, but Ranked is a different beast. I quickly realized that running around like a headless chicken wasn’t going to cut it.

Figuring Out the Modes
I started experimenting with the different modes. You got your Hardpoint, Control, and Search and Destroy. I’m pretty sure there is also Domination too. At first, I was all over the place, trying each one out.
I realized pretty fast that some modes are just better for ranking up, at least for me. Hardpoint and Control became my go-to choices. They’re all about teamwork and playing the objective, which means more points and, hopefully, more wins. The new mode is so cool, name called Blitz, but I’m not very good at.
The Grind Begins
- Step 1: Get My Butt Kicked. Yeah, this was the first, and longest, phase. I lost… a lot. But hey, that’s how you learn, right? I started paying attention to what the better players were doing. Where were they positioning themselves? What weapons were they using?
- Step 2: Find My Guns. I messed around with a bunch of different weapons and loadouts. Eventually, I found a couple of setups that clicked with my playstyle. Sticking with them helped me get more consistent.
- Step 3: Learn the Maps. Seriously, map knowledge is HUGE. I started to learn the power positions, the flanking routes, and where the objectives usually are. This made a big difference.
- Step 4: Play the Objective! I cannot stress this enough. It’s not just about getting kills (though those help). Capturing points, defending zones – that’s where the real XP and wins are. I even started using killstreaks that can help with eliminations, It’s so great.
- Step 5: Don’t Give Up! Ranked can be frustrating. You’ll have good games and bad games. The key is to keep learning, keep adapting, and keep playing.
The Results (So Far)
I’m not going to lie, I’m not some pro-level player now. But, I’ve definitely improved. I’ve climbed a few ranks, and I’m feeling way more confident in my matches. I’m holding my own, contributing to the team, and, most importantly, having fun (most of the time!).
The key is playing the modes mentioned and try my best to keep up the pressure to rank up rather fast. I can do this!
It’s a marathon, not a sprint, as they say. So, I’m going to keep at it. Maybe I’ll even see some of you out there on the battlefield!
