Alright, so I’ve been having this super annoying issue with Madden 22 lately – the dreaded “desync.” It’s been driving me nuts, so I decided to really dig in and figure out what’s going on. Here’s the whole messy journey.
The Start of My Frustration
It all started a few weeks ago. I was playing a franchise game online with my buddy, and bam! Out of nowhere, the game just froze. We got a message saying something about the game being out of sync. I figured, “Okay, maybe a one-time glitch.” But nope, it kept happening. Different games, different modes, same stupid desync error.
Diving into the Forums (and Finding Misery)
First thing I did? Hit the forums. I figured I couldn’t be the only one dealing with this. And boy, was I right. Tons of people were complaining about desync issues, especially in online franchise modes. I started reading through threads, trying every suggestion I could find.
I tried a wired connection, I did port-forwaring.
- Restart Everything: Yep, I tried the classic “turn it off and on again.” Router, console, the whole shebang. No luck.
- Check My Connection: I ran speed tests, ping tests, everything. My internet seemed fine. Rock solid, actually. So it wasn’t that.
- Clear Cache: I learned how to clear the cache on my console (it’s different for PlayStation and Xbox, so you’ll have to look it up). This seemed to help sometimes, but the desyncs kept coming back.
Getting a Little More Technical
After the basic stuff failed, I started to get a bit more desperate.I am going to try more.
- Port Forwarding: This one was a pain. I had to go into my router settings and forward specific ports that Madden supposedly uses. It’s a bit technical, and honestly, I’m still not 100% sure I did it right. Didn’t seem to make a difference anyway.
- Change DNS Settings: Another suggestion was to change my DNS settings to use Google’s public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Seemed easy enough, but still no fix.
Still Desyncing… What Now?
Honestly, I’m still battling this issue. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially when you’re in the middle of a good game. I’ve noticed it seems to happen more often in longer games, or when there are a lot of user-controlled players.
My next step is probably to contact EA support directly, but I’m not holding my breath. From what I’ve read, it seems like this might be a server-side issue, or some kind of bug in the game itself. Hopefully, they’ll release a patch that fixes it soon. Until then, I’m just crossing my fingers every time I play online.
