Okay, so I’ve been on a huge nostalgia kick lately, and I decided I needed to replay Pokemon Yellow. I mean, who doesn’t want Pikachu following them around everywhere? But, my old Game Boy is long gone, and frankly, those tiny screens are rough on the eyes these days. So, I went on a mission to figure out how to play it online.
Finding a Way to Play
First things first, I needed to find a way to actually play the game. I’m not super tech-savvy, but I can usually Google my way through things. So, I started searching for “Pokemon Yellow online emulator” and “play Pokemon Yellow in browser” and stuff like that.

I found a couple of sites that looked a little… sketchy. You know, the ones with tons of pop-up ads and weird download buttons? Yeah, I steered clear of those. I eventually stumbled upon a few sites that seemed more legit, with clean interfaces and no obvious red flags.
Getting Started(The Fun Part!)
I picked one of the sites that looked promising, and sure enough, there it was – Pokemon Yellow, ready to play right in my browser! No downloads, no installations, nothing. Just clicked “Start Game,” and boom, I was back in Pallet Town.
The controls were pretty simple. Usually, it’s the arrow keys for movement, Z for A, X for B, Enter for Start, and Backspace for Select. Some sites let you customize the controls, which is super handy. I messed around with them a bit until I found a setup that felt comfortable.
It felt amazing to be back in that familiar world. The 8-bit music, the pixelated graphics… it all just brought back so many memories. And of course, there was Pikachu, my little yellow buddy, trotting along behind me.
Saving My Progress(Important!)
Now, one thing I learned the hard way is that you need to save your progress! This isn’t like the old days where you could just leave your Game Boy on and hope the batteries didn’t die. These emulators usually have a “Save State” feature.
It’s super easy to use. I found the “Save State” option(by pressing “Shift” key, the pop-up will show up.) in the emulator’s menu and saved my game before I stopped playing, most of the time I can save for 5 different save-state. I made sure to save often, just in case something went wrong or I accidentally closed the browser window.
My Experince Summary
Honestly, playing Pokemon Yellow online was a blast. It was easy to find, easy to play, and brought back all the feels. The only thing is, remember to save your progress regularly so you will not lose your hours game progress like I did… It’s really sad T-T.
