Okay, so I ran into this super annoying audio glitch while playing MLB The Show, and I just had to figure it out. It was driving me nuts! Here’s how I went about fixing it (hopefully, it stays fixed!).
The Problem Started
So, I booted up the game, everything seemed normal. I jumped into a game, and then BAM! The audio started cutting out. Sometimes it was the commentary, other times it was the sound effects, like the bat hitting the ball, or the crowd noise, that stuttered and make the game unplayable.
My Troubleshooting Journey
- First thing I did was the classic: I restarted the game. Nope, still messed up.
- Then, I rebooted my whole console. Figured it might be a system issue, but still the same glitch when i load back in.
- I even checked all my cables. Made sure everything was plugged in tight, both on the console and the TV. Nada.
- Next, I dug into the game’s audio settings. I messed around with the different options, like switching between “Broadcast” and “Sounds of the Show,” hoping one of them would magically work, but it still failed.
- I checked for any game updates and also checked that my console’s system software was up to date. Always a good idea, but still didn’t solve it.
- Time to test other game, I jumped into other games, and there’s no problems with the audio.
Finally, (Maybe) A Solution!
After all that, I started looking at my console’s audio output settings, not the game’s, but the console’s itself. I usually have it set to some fancy surround sound option, but I switched it to plain old stereo. And guess what? It seems to have fixed the problem!
I played a few games with the stereo setting, and the audio was perfect. No more cutting out, no more weird silences. It’s not ideal, because I like my surround sound, but hey, at least I can play the game without wanting to throw my controller at the TV.
It’s still early, so I’m not 100% sure this is a permanent fix. But so far, so good. I’ll update this if the glitch comes back, but for now, I’m just happy to be back in the game!
