Okay, so yesterday was April’s Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go, and I was determined to make the most of it. I’ve been playing on and off since the game came out, and these Spotlight Hours are always a good chance to snag some extra goodies.
First things first, I checked which Pokemon was gonna be featured. I don’t always keep up with the news, It was a increase spawn for the pokemons Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Grimer, Muk, Trubbish, and Garbodor. I like some of them so I thought, “Why not?”.

Before the event kicked off at 6 PM, I made sure I had enough supplies. I stocked up on Poke Balls – regular ones, Great Balls, the whole shebang. I also cleared out some space in my Pokemon storage. Gotta make room for all those catches, you know?
Getting Started!
As soon as 6 PM hit, I stepped outside. My usual hunting ground is the park near my house, it’s got a decent number of PokeStops and usually spawns a good variety of Pokemon.
The strategy: Circle and capture.
- Used Incense
- Lure Up
- Walk around to activate the spawn bonus
The boosted spawn rate was immediately noticeable. I used an Incense to attract even more. I also popped a Lucky Egg at the start to double my XP gain. Every little bit helps, right?
I also made sure to use Pinap Berries on some, That way, I’d have enough candies to evolve a bunch of them later for even more XP.
How Did It Go?
By the end of the hour, I was pretty satisfied. My thumbs were tired, that’s for sure! . I also managed to evolve a few, which was a nice XP boost thanks to the Lucky Egg.
All in all, it was a successful Spotlight Hour. Nothing super rare, but a solid haul and a fun way to spend an hour outdoors. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
