Okay, so today I decided to mess around with Grass and Fighting-type Pokemon. I’ve always thought it was an interesting type matchup, you know, with Grass being weak to Fighting, but also having some cool advantages.
Getting Started
First, I booted up my Pokemon game – I’m playing the latest one, so I’ve got all the new guys to choose from. I wanted to see this matchup in action, not just read about it.

Building the Teams
I spent a good hour just picking out Pokemon. I went with a classic Grass-type, like Sceptile, because, come on, who doesn’t love Sceptile? Then I added a few others, like a bulky Amoonguss and a speedy Meowscarada. I make sure my pokemons are well trained and have a good level, so, I spent some time training them.
For the Fighting-types, I chose some heavy hitters. I grabbed a Lucario, a Conkeldurr, and just for fun, a Pawmot.
The Battles
- First battle: Sceptile vs. Lucario. It was pretty back and forth! Lucario is fast, but Sceptile’s Leaf Storm packs a punch. Ended up being a close one, but Lucario’s Aura Sphere took the win.
- Second battle: Amoonguss vs. Conkeldurr. This one was all about status effects. Amoonguss put Conkeldurr to sleep, used Spore a bunch, and just wore it down. This one went to the Grass-type!
- Third try: I switched things up and tried Meowscarada against Pawmot. It was a speed battle! Meowscarada’s Flower Trick is super strong. Pawmot landed a few good hits, but Meowscarada’s speed and critical hits were too much. Another win for the Grass-type!
My Thoughts
It’s clear that Fighting-types have the advantage overall, especially with their strong physical *, if you play it smart with Grass-types, using status moves and taking advantage of their speed, you can definitely win some battles. It’s all about strategy and knowing your Pokemon’s strengths.
I had a blast messing around with this. I might even try building a competitive team around this matchup. It’s always fun to see how different types interact and to try and find ways to make the “weaker” type come out on top!
