Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “shadow quagsire” thing, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I wanted to give my regular Quagsire a bit of an edge, and after seeing some folks online talking about shadow Pokémon, I figured, why not?
First, I had to actually get a shadow Pokémon. This meant battling a bunch of those Team GO Rocket grunts. I had to keep an eye out for the ones hanging around at the PokéStops. They’re pretty easy to spot, all dressed in black like wannabe ninjas.

The battles themselves? Not too tough, usually. I have a decent team, with the types covered. I mostly used my Fire, Flying, and Grass to deal with them. The real struggle was finding the right grunt. You see, each grunt has a different lineup, and I needed one with a Mudkip.
I battled… I don’t even know how many grunts. Seriously, it felt like a hundred. I kept getting Zubats and Rattatas, and all sorts of stuff I didn’t need. My bag was getting full of potions I didn’t wanted.
Then I was getting tired, I was about to call * there it was, the “These waters are treacherous” dialogue, and I finally got a battle with a Mudkip in it! Beat the grunt, and boom, Shadow Mudkip was mine.
Next, it was evolution time. I had enough candies, I had dumped a mountain of Mudkip candies, so evolving it to Marshtomp and then Quagsire was a piece of cake. Just tap, tap, tap, and there it was – a Shadow Quagsire, looking all menacing with those red eyes.
The Payoff
- The Result: Shadow Quagsire.
- The Benefit: It hits harder in battles!
Was it worth it? Totally! This thing is a beast in battles. Shadow Pokémon have a boosted attack stat, so my Shadow Quagsire packs a much bigger punch than my regular one. It’s definitely been helping me out in raids and against other players.
So yeah, that’s my Shadow Quagsire story. Lots of grunt battles, a bit of luck, and now I’ve got a super-powered muddy buddy to help me out. Not a bad way to spend a few days, I’d say!
