Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Pokemon Go lately, trying to up my battle game. I’ve always liked Lanturn, that cute little anglerfish-lookin’ dude, but never really knew how to make it shine. So, I decided to figure out the best moveset for Lanturn in Pokemon Go.
My Lanturn Experiment Begins
First, I caught a bunch of Chinchou, Lanturn’s pre-evolution. Gotta get that candy, you know? Walking around, doing raids, finally got enough to evolve a pretty decent one. I made sure to check its IVs – not perfect, but good enough for what I wanted to do.

Next up, the moves. This is where it gets tricky. I knew I needed to experiment. So, I started with the moves it came with:
- Fast Move: Water Gun
- Charged Move: Thunderbolt
I Took it into some battles, some raids, some trainer battles… it did okay. Water Gun is fast, so that’s good for building up energy. Thunderbolt hit pretty hard, especially against other Water types. But it felt like something was missing.
Testing & Tweaking
I used a few Charged TMs, cause those things are precious, trying out different moves. I experimented with Hydro Pump, which packs a huge punch, but it takes forever to charge up. I also tried Discharge. It’s not as strong as Thunderbolt, but it comes out quicker.
After all the trial and error, wins and losses, this is what I finally found as the best combo:
- Fast Move: Spark. I found that the electric type fast attack is really good.
- Charged Move: Thunderbolt and Surf.
Thunderbolt is still a solid choice, and having a water-type coverage move like surf can make the difference.
The Results
So, yeah, that’s my Lanturn moveset journey. It’s not perfect, and maybe there’s some super-secret combo out there that I haven’t found yet, but this setup has been working pretty well for me. It’s all about trying things out and seeing what works best for your play style, right?
