Okay, so I’ve been having some trouble with the Madden 18 servers lately. Thought I’d share my experience, maybe someone else is going through the same thing, or knows a fix I haven’t tried.
The Problem Started Slow…
It started a few weeks ago, just some occasional lag. You know, the kind where your players feel like they’re running in mud. Annoying, but I figured it was just my internet being flaky.

Then, it got worse. I started getting disconnected mid-game. Like, right in the middle of a crucial drive, boom, booted back to the main menu. Super frustrating, especially in online head-to-head matches.
Troubleshooting Time
First thing I did was the usual stuff. You know:
- Restarted my console.
- Restarted my router.
- Checked my internet speed (it was fine, plenty fast).
- Made sure my NAT type was open.
None of that seemed to help. I was still getting dropped, still getting lag spikes. It was making the game almost unplayable.
Digging Deeper…
So, I started looking around online. Saw some people talking about port forwarding, which I’d never messed with before. Figured it was worth a shot.
I found some instructions online, and it was honestly a little confusing, because I use old console. I had to go into my router settings (which always feels like I’m about to break something), find the port forwarding section, and manually enter some numbers. It felt super technical, and I was crossing my fingers the whole time.
I tested and tested, and I don’t know, it worked!
So far, so good. No disconnects, and the lag seems to be a lot better. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
