So, I decided to mess around with Clash and see if I could get it working for some ARAM games in 2023. It’s been a while since I’ve really dug into this stuff, so I figured why not, and documented my journey.
Getting Started
First, I needed to get the Clash software. I grabbed the latest version that I could find. I made sure to check it was a recent version from 2023, just in case anything had changed dramatically.

I unzipped the thing and looked around at the files. I needed a configuration file, the “*” to tell Clash how to work.
Figuring Out the Configuration
Now, this was the tricky part. The configuration file has a lot of options. I basically needed to tell it:
- Proxies:I found free proxies on the web.
- Proxy Groups: I wanted to set up different groups of proxies, mostly to have some for failover.
- Rules:I’m not really advanced so i tried to make the rules as simple as possible.
Trial and Error
Okay, so here’s where the real fun began. I saved my config file and fired up Clash. Nothing. Checked the logs – tons of errors. Back to the config file. I tweaked a few settings, mostly proxy adresses and ports, tried again. Still nothing. More errors.
This went on for a while. I Googled some of the error messages, found some examples of config files, and basically just kept messing with things until… it worked! I could see in the Clash dashboard that it was connecting to the proxies and the rules seemed to be working.
Testing It Out
Finally, time to see if this thing actually works. I opened up my game and start playing. For the first game, i’m playing a lot faster. No more lag!
But, after a while of playing, the game suddenly got super slow. I checked the Clash dashboard again, and yep, the proxy I was using had died. So, the failover group I set up worked! It switched to another proxy automatically, and after a few seconds, the lag was gone.
What I Learned
It took a few hours of playing around, but I managed to get it up and *’s not perfect, and it definitely requires some patience. Remember to save your config file! I almost lost all my changes a couple of times because I forgot.
I’m sure there are more advanced things I could do with Clash, but for now, I’m happy with just having a basic setup that gives me a more stable connection for my games.
