Alright, guys, let’s dive into something I’ve been messing around with lately – figuring out the absolute highest DPS monsters in Pokemon Go. I mean, who doesn’t want to melt those raid bosses as fast as possible, right?
So, I started where everyone starts: I did some searching on internet. Looked at a bunch of lists, you know, the usual “Top 10 Attackers” type stuff. Problem is, a lot of these were outdated, or they focused on specific types, and I wanted the overall, no-holds-barred champion.

Then I started digging deeper. I wasn’t just looking at their attack stats. Nope, I was looking at:
- Base Stats: Attack, obviously, but also how quickly they charge up their moves.
- Move Sets: Some Pokemon have killer attack stats, but crummy moves, and that just won’t cut it.
- Type Effectiveness: I mean, sure, a super-strong Fire-type is great, but not against a Water boss. I needed to factor that in… loosely.
The Experiment
My initial plan of attack was to just run a bunch of battle simulations. But I will admit, the amount of variables was pretty crazy. Then I decided to just try them in the real world.
So I grabbed my phone, gathered my strongest Pokemon, and headed out to some local gyms and raids. I started with the usual suspects:
- Mega Rayquaza: Everyone says this thing is a beast, and they’re not wrong.
- Shadow Mewtwo: Another classic powerhouse, with that insane attack stat.
- Mega Gengar: Super fast, super strong, but also super fragile. A real glass cannon.
- Deoxys(attack form): I read many articles saying its the highest, but I want to prove it.
I battled, and battled, and battled some more. Took down gyms, soloed some weaker raids, joined in on some bigger ones. I kept track of how quickly I was taking down opponents, how often I was fainting, and how much damage I was dealing relative to other players.
My (Somewhat Messy) Conclusion
After all that, I realized I can defeat a gym in a flash using Deoxys(attack form), and when I did a raid battle, I can see in the damage contribution that I have dealt the largest damage.
It’s not perfect, but hey, that’s Pokemon Go. There’s always some randomness involved. But I feel pretty confident saying, at least from my experience, and that’s the kind of thing you need to test yourself!
