Okay, here’s my take on a blog post about the “best supports with Smolder”, written from a personal, practical experience perspective:
Alright, guys, so I’ve been spamming a TON of Smolder games lately. Gotta say, I’m loving this little dragon. He’s a scaling monster, and once you hit those late-game team fights, it’s just chef’s kiss. But, like any ADC, he needs a good support to get him there. I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of different pairings, and I wanna share what I’ve found works best.

My Support Trials and Tribulations
First off, let me tell you, I’ve had some rough games. I tried pairing Smolder with pretty much every support in my roster. Some were okay, some were… disasters. I learned the hard way that not all supports are created equal when it comes to playing alongside this fiery little dude.
I started with the usual suspects, you know, the enchanters. I figured, “Hey, Smolder scales, enchanters scale, it’s a match made in heaven!”
- Lulu: Felt… okay. The shields and attack speed were nice, but honestly, it didn’t feel like we had much kill pressure in lane. We just kinda farmed.
- Janna: Similar story. Good disengage with her tornado and ultimate, but again, just felt passive.
- Nami:This is a little bit diffrent,I felt good when i tried.
Then I thought, “Okay, maybe we need some engage to actually get Smolder some early kills.” So I switched gears to the tankier supports.
- Leona: This was… interesting. Early game was a fiesta, for sure. If Leona landed her E, we could usually get a kill. But if she missed, we were sitting ducks. It was very all-in.
- Alistar: Pretty much the same as Leona. High risk, high reward.
- Nautilus: Okay, this one felt a bit better. His hook is just so reliable, and his ultimate is great for setting up ganks.
I also tried some mage supports, hoping for some poke damage to help Smolder stack his passive.
- Brand: Too much damage,we can’t stack passive.
- Zyra:Same as Brand.
My Top Picks (So Far)
After all that experimenting, here’s what I’ve found to be the best supports for Smolder, in my humble opinion:
- Milio:Now it is a little * healing and range buff is very good with Smolder’s Q.I love it.
- Nautilus:I talked about * reliable engage, great for setting up ganks, and can peel pretty well in the mid-game.
- Bard: Hear me out! Bard might seem like a weird choice, but his roaming potential is HUGE. He can get other lanes ahead, and his ultimate can be used to set up some insane plays with Smolder’s execute. Plus, the chimes give him sustain, and Smolder benefits from that *’s a high-skill pairing, but it can be really rewarding.
- Nami:She’s good at early * she can use her skills properly,it can create some insane plays.
Honestly, the biggest thing I’ve learned is that communication is KEY. No matter who you’re playing with, make sure you’re on the same page about when to engage, when to farm, and when to roam. Smolder needs time to scale, so don’t expect to be winning every 2v2 early on.
And remember,it also depends on your style, try more, and you can get more.
That’s it for my Smolder support deep dive! Let me know in the comments what supports YOU’VE been having success with. I’m always looking for new ideas!
