Alright, so I’ve been messing around in Destiny 2 PvP, trying to figure out what fusion rifles really slap. I gotta say, it’s been a journey, a lot of trial and error, getting melted, and doing some melting myself.
Getting Started & Feeling the Pain
I started off just grabbing whatever fusion rifles I had in my vault. Some old favorites, some new drops, just a complete mix-match. First few games? Oof. I was getting wrecked. People were sliding around, shotgunning me before I could even charge up, snipers picking me off…it was rough.

I quickly realized that just having a fusion rifle wasn’t enough. You gotta have the right fusion rifle, and you gotta know how to use it. So, I started paying attention to the perks. I learned I have to make some changes.
Perk Hunting
I started digging into what perks actually matter for PvP. Here’s my rough, totally non-pro take:
- Stability: Seriously, this is king. A wobbly fusion rifle is a useless fusion rifle. You need those bolts to land consistently.
- Range: The further you can map someone, the better. Less range means you gotta get closer, and that’s shotgun territory. No thanks.
- Charge Time: Faster is better, obviously, but it’s a balancing act. Sometimes a slightly slower charge time with better stability is the way to go.
- Stuff like “Under Pressure” and “Backup Plan”: These can be clutch. “Under Pressure” when your mag is low, and “Backup Plan” for those quick swaps when someone rushes you.
I spent a good chunk of time just inspecting every fusion rifle I got, comparing stats, and testing them out in private matches with a buddy. We’d just stand at different ranges, see how the bolts spread, and how consistently we could hit each other.
Putting It All Together
After a lot of experimenting, I found a few that really clicked for me. It’s all about that balance, finding one that feels good in your hands. What works for me might not work for you, so keep that in mind!
The biggest thing I learned? Pre-charging. Don’t wait until you see someone to start charging. Anticipate where they’re going to be, start charging before you peek the corner, and then boom. It takes practice, but it’s a game-changer.
I’m still learning, still tweaking my playstyle, and still getting outgunned sometimes. But that’s part of the fun, right? The grind, the experimenting, the little victories when you finally nail that perfect fusion rifle shot. Now I find the fusion rifle more and more interesting!
