Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Pokemon GO lately, and Genesect with the Douse Drive has been popping up a lot in raids. I wanted to figure out the best way to take it down, so I did some experimenting. Here’s what I found.
First, I looked up its weaknesses. Turns out, it’s double weak to Fire-type attacks. Good start!

My Initial Team Attempts
Initially, I just threw my highest CP Fire-types at it. You know, the usual suspects:
- Reshiram: Seemed like a solid choice, but it felt a little slow.
- Chandelure: High attack, but it fainted pretty quickly.
- Darmanitan: Decent damage, but still not quite there.
I managed to win a few raids with these, but it was always super close, and sometimes I’d even lose if other trainers weren’t pulling their weight.
Digging Deeper and Finding Better Options
So I started getting more strategic. I checked out some online resources(but no name drop here, keep real) and found some interesting counters that I hadn’t considered:
- Mega Charizard Y: Oh boy, this thing is a beast. The Mega Evolution boost is insane, and it just melts Genesect.
- Moltres: Not as powerful as Mega Charizard, but still a very strong and reliable Fire-type attacker. I always had him.
- Blaziken: If you have one with Blast Burn, it’s a surprisingly effective and budget-friendly option. And I had one with Blast Burn!
Refining my team and the results
I switched up my team to include Mega Charizard Y as my lead, backed up by Moltres and a Blast Burn Blaziken. Huge difference!
I noticed the raids were going down much faster, and I was consistently getting more damage balls. Plus, I wasn’t fainting nearly as much, which meant less time reviving and more time attacking.
My Final Thoughts
The key takeaway? Don’t just rely on your highest CP Pokemon. Take the time to really consider type weaknesses and specific movesets. And if you have a Mega Charizard Y, definitely use it! It’s a total game-changer against Douse Drive Genesect.
Anyway, that’s my experience taking on Genesect. Hope this helps some of you out there! Go catch ’em all!
