Alright, guys, let’s talk about something I’ve been digging into lately: figuring out the release dates of League of Legends champions. It’s kinda tricky, but I think I’ve cracked it!
First, I started by just straight-up Googling it. You know, “League of Legends champion release dates.” I figured there’d be some easy list somewhere. I found some stuff, but it was all over the place. Some websites had partial lists, some were outdated… it was a mess.

So, I decided I needed a better plan. I remembered the official League of Legends website has a “Champions” section. I headed over there, and sure enough, they have a page for every single champion.
Now, the tricky part. The release date isn’t just sitting there in big, bold letters. Nope, that would be too easy. I had to do some digging. What I ended up doing was looking at the champion’s “reveal” date, often that date that announced the champions on their offical websit. Sometimes that worked, sometimes it didn’t.
I soon realised I need go to the champion’s background story page. Then, I carefully read the article’s publishing date. I believed that date must be the release date!
I started making a spreadsheet, because, well, I like spreadsheets. I listed all the champions down one side and then started going through each champion page, one by one, and noting down the publishing date. It took a while, let me tell you! There are a LOT of champions.
My Little “Database”
- Champion Name: (Obvious, right?)
- Publishing Date: (The date I found on the champion’s story page.)
- Note:( Is there any special situation on the champion’s release?)
It’s still a work in progress. Some of the older champions are harder to pin down because the website has changed over the years. But I’ve got a pretty good list going, and I feel like I’ve finally got a handle on how to find this info.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure in data gathering. It might seem kinda nerdy, but I actually enjoyed it. It’s like being a detective, piecing together clues to find the answer. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a spreadsheet to get back to!
