Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into HoloCure lately, and man, the character roster is HUGE. It’s awesome, but also kinda overwhelming when you’re trying to figure out who to focus on. I spent a good chunk of today trying to make sense of it all, so I figured I’d share my messy journey of creating a personal tier list.
First, I started by just playing a bunch. Like, a LOT. I wanted to get a feel for each character’s basic attacks, specials, and skills, without worrying too much about tier lists or anything. Just raw, unfiltered gameplay. Some characters clicked immediately – I loved their attack patterns or how their skills worked. Others? Not so much. I jotted down some quick notes as I went, like, “Okay, X is really good at crowd control,” or “Y feels super weak early game.” Just anything that popped into my head, good and bad.

After I’d played with every character at least a couple of times, I decided to look up some existing tier lists online. You know, just to see what the “pros” thought. Holy moly, was that a rabbit hole! Everyone seems to have a different opinion, and the reasoning behind their choices varied wildly. Some focused on raw damage output, others on survivability, and some on specific stage strategies. It was… a lot.
I didn’t want to just copy someone else’s list, though. My playstyle might be different, and what works for them might not work for me. So, I took those online lists as inspiration, but then I went back to my own notes. I started organizing the characters into rough categories: “Definitely Awesome,” “Pretty Good,” “Meh,” and “Nope, Not For Me.” That was my first pass at a tier list, based purely on my own gut feeling.
Putting It All Together
Then, I started refining. I compared characters within each category. Like, if I had two “Pretty Good” characters, which one did I actually prefer playing? Why? I forced myself to make some tough choices, moving characters up or down based on those head-to-head comparisons. I thought about things like:
- How quickly can they clear waves of enemies?
- How well do they survive against bosses?
- Do their skills have good synergy?
- Do their weapons make me intersting?
- How fun are they to play, even if they’re not “top tier”?
It was a slow process. I kept going back and forth, playing a few more rounds with specific characters to test my assumptions. “Wait, was I too harsh on Z? Let me give them another shot…” I even started a simple spreadsheet to keep track of my evolving rankings, which helped me visualize things a bit better, and I could easily change the position when I feel it.
Finally, after hours of playing, comparing, and tweaking, I had something that resembled a tier list that I was happy with, I feel so released. It’s definitely not perfect, and it’ll probably change as I get better at the game and unlock more stuff. But for now, it’s a good starting point, and it’s based on my experiences, not just what some random website told me.
