Okay, so I’ve been messing around with TFT again, and let me tell you, Volibear is a BEAST if you build him right. I spent a good chunk of today trying different things, so here’s the rundown of what I did and what actually worked.
The Initial Mess-Around
First, I just threw Volibear into a few random comps. You know, just to get a feel for him. I slapped some items on him that I thought would be good, like a Guinsoo’s Rageblade, because, hey, attack speed, right? And maybe a Titan’s Resolve, ’cause he’s a tank, duh. It was… okay. He did some damage, survived a bit, but nothing crazy.

Figuring Things Out
Then I started thinking, “Okay, what’s Volibear actually good at?” He’s got that chain lightning thing, so magic damage is important. And he’s a Brawler, so he needs to survive long enough to do that damage. I decided to focus on that.
I started experimenting with different items.
- Guinsoo’s Rageblade: Seemed good, but the chain lightning benefits more from ability power.
- Titan’s Resolve: Not bad, helped him survive, but didn’t boost his damage much.
The “A-Ha!” Moment
Then it hit me: Morellonomicon! The burn damage would stack with his lightning, making him a real threat. And since he’s going to be in the middle of the fight, Warmog’s Armor would be perfect to keep him alive. After that, i tried to put those items togther, and I did have some wins.
- Morellonomicon: YES! The burn was noticeable, and it helped shred through tanks.
- Warmog’s Armor: Double YES! He could actually survive long enough to do serious damage.
The Winning Combo (For Me, Anyway)
After a few more games, I finally settled on a build that felt really strong. Keep in mind, this is just what worked for me today. Your mileage may vary, and the meta is always changing, blah blah blah.
Here’s what I ended up with:
- Morellonomicon: Essential for maximizing that chain lightning damage and applying the burn.
- Warmog’s Armor: Keeps him alive, plain and simple.
- Crownguard:This item real good at early game, it gave Volibear initial shield, and after that, bonus Ability Power.
With these items, my Volibear was consistently carrying fights. He was tanky enough to survive, and the chain lightning with Morello’s was just melting enemy teams. I even managed to snag a couple of first-place finishes!
Important!
I’m not saying this is the only way to build Volibear, it depends your team comp. But it’s definitely a strong option to try out. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works best for you! The most important thing is to understand why certain items work well on him, so you can adapt to different situations.
Happy gaming!
