Okay, so I’ve been getting into VALORANT lately, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. When I first started, I had no clue which agent to pick. They’ve got so many, and they all do different stuff. It was a little overwhelming, to be honest.
So, I did what any normal person would do: I tried a bunch of them. I jumped into some games, picked a random agent, and just went for it. Let me tell you, some of those early games were rough. I was running around like a headless chicken, getting taken out left and right.

Then I started thinking, maybe there’s a better way to do this. Maybe I should figure out how I like to play first. Do I want to be the guy who rushes in, guns blazing? Or maybe I’m more of a sneaky, stay-back-and-support kind of player? Once I started thinking about that, things started to get a little clearer.
I realized I’m not really the type to be the first one through the door. I like to hang back a bit, use my abilities to control the area, and pick people off from a distance. After some experimentation and more time spent on the game I decided to choose a specific role.
For me, that’s where Killjoy came in. Her turrets and molotovs are perfect for locking down an area. I can set up my defenses, force the other team to come to me, and then BAM! I also tried KAY/O a few times and he is really cool. I like his ability to stop the enemy from using their powers with his knife. Very good for beginners.
If you like to play more offensively, you should try Reyna. She is really good at getting kills and she can heal herself which makes her really hard to beat. Her ultimate ability is also really strong and it makes her even more powerful.
- I went through a trial-and-error process with different agents.
- I figured out my preferred playstyle which is a more defensive, control-oriented approach.
- I discovered that Killjoy and KAY/O fit my style perfectly.
- I also realized that Reyna is very good for players who like to play aggressively.
What I learned
Choosing the right agent in VALORANT can make a huge difference. It’s not just about picking the coolest-looking character, it’s about finding someone who matches how you want to play. So, if you’re new to the game, don’t be afraid to experiment, figure out your style, and then find an agent who feels right for you. And if you are still having trouble picking an agent, I recommend starting with Killjoy, KAY/O, or Reyna. They are all pretty easy to use and they are very strong in the game.
