Okay, so, I was messing around with Hades again, trying to figure out the best Boons for a solid run. Specifically, I was looking at two options: Dark Foresight and Olympian Favor. I’ve always been a bit wishy-washy on which one is actually better, so I decided to really put them to the test.
First, I started a few runs focusing on Dark Foresight. This one’s supposed to give you more gold, more poms, more hearts, that sort of thing. The idea is you get stronger by just having more resources, you know? I picked it up early each time, hoping to really see the benefits snowball.
Honestly, it felt pretty good at first. I was swimming in gold, and my health was definitely higher than usual. I was grabbing every Pom of Power I could find, trying to max out my main attack. But here’s the thing, I kept running into rooms with Boons from the Gods, and they were often pretty meh.
- Run 1: Loads of gold, huge health pool, but my damage was seriously lacking. Got wrecked by Theseus.
- Run 2: Similar story. Felt tanky, but couldn’t dish out enough pain. Died in Elysium.
- Run 3: Tried to focus more on boons that were directly boosted by poms. Got better. Reached hades. But died in the 2nd phase.
So, Dark Foresight wasn’t quite cutting it. Time to switch gears.
Next up, I focused on Olympian Favor. This one makes it more likely that the Boons you find are rare or better. The trade-off is you get less gold and stuff, but the hope is that you get some seriously powerful God powers to make up for it.
The first few runs with Olympian Favor felt rough. I was scrounging for every coin, and my health felt dangerously low a lot of the time. But man, the Boons I was finding were insane!
- Run 1: Got a crazy Artemis build going early. Crit city! Still died in Styx, but it was way more fun.
- Run 2: Managed to snag a really strong Poseidon build with the wall slam. Tide goes in, tide goes out, things die. Still died in the temple.
- Run 3: Zeus and Ares decided to be my best friends. Lightning and Doom everywhere. Actually beat Redacted this time!
So, after all that messing around, here’s what I think: Dark Foresight is okay if you’re new to the game or struggling to get enough health and gold. But, if you’re decent at dodging and managing your resources, Olympian Favor is where it’s at. It just lets you get some truly ridiculous builds going, and that’s way more fun, at least for me. The high of getting the most strongest boon is just awesome! Although, I did feel the lack of gold when I was using Olympian Favor.
Ultimately, I realized that I had a much better time and more success when I took Olympian Favor. It just fits my playstyle better. It’s all about those powerful Boons, baby! But hey, you do you. Maybe you’re a Dark Foresight kind of person. The important thing is to experiment and find what works best for you.
