Alright, so today I wanted to mess around with creating a mid-tier list for League of Legends. I’ve been playing this game on and off for years, and I always find myself debating with friends over which champions are really in that middle-of-the-road category. So I thought, why not document my process and share it with you all?
First, I jumped into a few normal games to get a fresh feel for the current meta. I played a bunch of different champions, some that I’m comfortable with and some that I haven’t touched in ages. I made sure to play against a variety of opponents as well, just to see how different champions fared in various matchups. You can’t really get a good sense of a champion’s place if you’re only playing against the same few champs, right?

After a few games, I started jotting down some notes. I didn’t just want to consider raw power, but also things like how difficult the champion is to play, how well they scale into the late game, and how reliant they are on their team. I also considered their pick/ban rate and win rate from those stats websites, just to see what the general player base thinks. But honestly, I trusted my own experience over those numbers, because sometimes those stats don’t tell the whole story.
My Current Mid-Tier List:
- Ahri – She’s got decent damage, some mobility, and that charm can be clutch, but she’s not exactly dominating games.
- Sylas – Stealing ultimates is fun and can be super strong, but he’s also pretty squishy and can be punished easily.
- Orianna – She’s got good zone control and her ultimate can be game-changing, but she’s pretty immobile and takes some time to really get going.
- Akshan – A weird one, for sure. He can swing around and revive teammates, but his damage feels a bit lacking sometimes, and he’s easy to kill if caught out.
- Vex – Good against those hyper-mobile champs, but against other mages, she can struggle a bit. Her ultimate is fun to use though.
After playing and thinking for a while, I put together this very rough mid-tier list. I decided to just focus on mid laners for this one, to keep things simple. This is by no means definitive, and I’m sure people will disagree, but that’s part of the fun! This is just based on my own experiences and observations. I even argued with myself a few times about where to place certain champs, it’s a tough thing to nail down.
I think creating tier lists is a fun way to really think about the game and its champions. It’s not just about who’s the strongest, but also about understanding the nuances of each champion and how they fit into the overall game. I might do more of these in the future, maybe for other roles. We’ll see! Let me know what you think of my list and where you would place these champions. I’m always up for a good discussion about League!
