Alright, so the other day I stumbled upon this game called “Bramble: The Mountain King,” and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. Creepy, atmospheric, and just a tad bit messed up, in a good way. Naturally, it got me itching for more games with that same dark fairytale vibe. So, I rolled up my sleeves and got to digging.
First thing I did was hit up the usual spots – you know, the big gaming forums and communities. I figured, who better to ask than a bunch of folks who are just as into games as I am? I started some threads, asked around, and waited to see what would pop up.

And boy, did people deliver! I got a whole bunch of recommendations thrown my way. Some were pretty obvious, like “Little Nightmares” and “Limbo”. Those were already on my radar, but it was good to see them getting mentioned. But then there were some real gems that I hadn’t even heard of before.
I made a big list of all the suggestions and started checking them out one by one. Watched some gameplay videos, read some reviews, the whole nine yards. It was a bit of a process, I won’t lie. Some games looked cool but didn’t quite hit the mark when I actually tried them out.
- Little Nightmares: Yeah, this one was a no-brainer. Super creepy, definitely gave me those Bramble vibes. The atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a knife.
- Limbo: Classic choice. Black and white, minimalist, but man, does it get under your skin. Totally get why people recommended this one.
- Inside: From the same folks as Limbo. Similar feel, but with a bit more color, which was a nice change. Still creepy as all heck, though.
- Gris: Okay, this one is a bit different. It’s more artsy and emotional, less horror, but the atmosphere is incredible. Beautiful game.
- Neverending Nightmares: This one was actually inspired by the developer’s own struggles with mental illness. Super dark and disturbing, but in a really thought-provoking way.
Narrowing it Down
After messing around with a bunch of different games, I finally started to narrow down my list to the ones that really scratched that Bramble itch. It wasn’t easy, because there are a lot of great games out there, but some just had that special something, you know?
It’s cool to see how many games are out there playing with these dark fairytale themes. Makes you think about all those old stories we heard as kids and how messed up they actually were. Anyway, if you’re looking for something to play after Bramble, definitely give these a shot. You won’t be disappointed. I kept digging and I played a whole bunch. Then I realized that I needed to write this whole thing down to share with you all! Hope you guys like it!
