Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Genesect thing in the game lately, and let me tell you, figuring out the best moves for it has been a real head-scratcher. I started out just throwing whatever on it, you know? Like, I figured, “Hey, it’s a bug and steel type, so bug and steel moves, right?” Wrong! Turns out, it’s way more complicated than that.
I went through a bunch of different combinations. First, I tried giving it X-Scissor because, well, it’s a bug move, and it seemed strong enough. But it just wasn’t cutting it. Then I thought, “Okay, maybe some Iron Head action will do the trick.” Nope. Still not great.

Experimenting with Drives
So, then I remembered Genesect can hold these things called “Drives” that change the type of its signature move, Techno Blast. I messed around with all of them:
- Burn Drive: Turns Techno Blast into a fire move.
- Chill Drive: Makes it an ice move.
- Douse Drive: Water move.
- Shock Drive: Electric move.
I spent hours trying out each Drive, battling different types of Pokémon to see what worked best. Honestly, it was a bit of a grind. The Burn Drive seemed pretty good against other bug types, and the Shock Drive was decent against water types. The Chill Drive was the best against those annoying dragon types. But still, nothing felt truly perfect.
Finally, a Breakthrough
After all that trial and error, I finally stumbled upon a moveset that seems to really click. It felt great to get out of it. Here’s what I’m currently rocking:
- Techno Blast (with the Chill Drive): Like I said, great for taking down those pesky dragon types.
- Flash Cannon: A solid steel move that hits pretty hard.
- Flamethrower: For coverage against other steel types.
- Thunderbolt: Rounding it out with some electric power.
This combination seems to cover a lot of bases. It may not be the best set ever, but for now, I’ve settled on this set. It’s been working pretty well for me in battles. It’s nice to have something that feels reliable, you know? I’m sure there are other great movesets out there, and I’m still open to experimenting, but for now, this is what I’m sticking with. Maybe I’ll try something new next week!
