Okay, so I’ve been deep into Pokemon Go lately, and let me tell you, Giratina has become my new obsession. This ghostly dragon is just so cool, and I really wanted to make mine a beast in battles. So, I started messing around with different movesets for my Giratina, and it’s been a wild ride.
Figuring Out the Best Moves
First, I had to pick the form, right? You got the Altered Forme and the Origin Forme. Altered is more for defense, while Origin is an attacker. I initially wanted to build a tanky one, so I focused on Altered Forme.

Then came the moves. I spent a good chunk of time reading up on what people were saying online. At first, I put Dragon Breath as the fast move. It seemed like a solid choice, dealing good damage fast. I put Dragon Claw for the charge move, cause well, that’s a classic for a dragon type.
- Fast Move: Dragon Breath
- Charge Move: Dragon Claw
Putting it to the Test
I took my Giratina out for a spin in some raids. It did okay, but it wasn’t quite the powerhouse I was hoping for. I mean it didn’t get melted or anything, but it wasn’t hitting hard.
Then, I used it in some PvP battles, and it kinda felt meh. I was still losing a lot. Not ideal when you really want to win those battles to get rewards.
Switching Things Up
Back to the drawing board. I figured maybe Shadow Claw was better than Dragon Breath. I had a bunch of TMs lying around, so I used one to switch it up.
- Fast Move: Shadow Claw
- Charge Move: Dragon Claw
Then I went back to battling. Let me tell you, this was a big improvement! Shadow Claw charges up energy way faster, so I could use Dragon Claw more often.
I started winning more in PvP, and Giratina was lasting longer in raids. Felt like I was finally getting somewhere.
Experimenting with the Second Charge Move
But then, I thought, “What if I added a second charge move?” This cost me a ton of Stardust and candies, but hey, gotta go all in sometimes. I went with Shadow Sneak, cause ghost type moves are strong in raids and PvP.
- Fast Move: Shadow Claw
- Charge Moves: Dragon Claw, Shadow Sneak
This was it. My Giratina was finally a monster. Having two charge moves gave me way more options in battles. I could hit different types of Pokemon super effectively, and it was just way more fun to play.
My Final Thoughts
So, after all that trial and error, I think I’ve cracked the code for a killer Giratina (Altered Forme) moveset. Shadow Claw, Dragon Claw, and Shadow Sneak is the way to go, at least for me. I’m sure the Origin Forme would prefer different moves, but I’m still working on getting one. I’m having a blast with this setup, and I’m climbing the ranks in PvP. If you’re struggling with your Giratina, give this moveset a try. It might just work wonders for you too! Just remember, it takes some time and resources, but it’s worth it in the end. Good luck, trainers!
