So, I’ve been messing around with Mewtwo in the game, trying to figure out the best charged attacks to use. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
I started off by unlocking Mewtwo. You know, the usual grind. Once I had him, I was super excited to try him out in battles. I mean, it’s Mewtwo, right? Gotta be powerful.

First, I checked out the different charged attacks he could learn. There’s a bunch, like Psystrike, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, and a few others. I read up on what each one does, how much damage they deal, and how much energy they need. Seems like each one has its own strengths and weaknesses, depending on the situation.
Then, I started experimenting. I took Mewtwo into some raids and gym battles. I tried using different combinations of charged attacks. Sometimes I’d go with Psystrike for that raw Psychic damage, other times I’d switch to Shadow Ball to hit those Ghost and Psychic types. And then there’s Focus Blast, which is great for taking down Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel types.
I started to record them. Record how many times it did damage to different types of enemies and I did some calculations to find out which one was most efficient.
- Psystrike: This one’s a beast. High damage, but it’s only effective against Fighting and Poison types. Still, it’s one of Mewtwo’s signature moves.
- Shadow Ball: Pretty versatile. It’s super effective against Ghost and other Psychic types. And it doesn’t cost too much energy. I found myself using this one a lot.
- Focus Blast: This one’s a heavy hitter. It takes a lot of energy to charge, but it can really put a dent in Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel types. It’s a good one to have in your back pocket.
After all that testing, I’ve kind of settled on a strategy. For general use, I like to have both Psystrike and Shadow Ball equipped. That way, I’ve got a strong Psychic move and a good counter for Ghost and Psychic types. If I know I’m going up against a Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, or Steel type, I might swap out one of those for Focus Blast. There were also some other charging moves but they are not that powerful so I did not use them that often.
My Choice
It’s all about knowing the matchups and picking the right tool for the job. Mewtwo’s a beast, no doubt, but you gotta use him smart. It’s not a one size fits all. You know?
I am still practicing though. Hope my sharing can help you guys who also use Mewtwo.
