Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with my Primeape in Pokemon Go. I’ve had this guy for a while, but I never really figured out the best way to use him in battles. So, I decided to do some digging and find out what moves are gonna make this monkey shine.
Figuring Out the Best Moves
First off, I needed to know what my options were. I hopped into the game and checked out Primeape’s move pool. There are a bunch of Fast Moves and Charged Moves, and honestly, it was kinda overwhelming. I needed a plan.

I started by trying out a few different combinations in some battles. I used him in some raids, fought against some friends, and even took on a few Team Rocket grunts. It was a mixed bag, to say the least. Some moves felt pretty good, while others were just… meh. I needed to narrow it down.
- Counter: This Fast Move seemed to be a winner. It dealt good damage and charged up my Charged Moves pretty quickly.
- Karate Chop: Felt okay, but just didn’t pack the same punch as Counter.
- Low Kick: Nope, this one was just too weak to be useful.
Charged Move Trials
Next up, the Charged Moves. This was a bit trickier because they take longer to charge up, so I had to be more strategic about testing them out.
- Night Slash: This one was interesting. It’s a Dark-type move, which gave Primeape some nice coverage against Psychic and Ghost-types.
- Low Sweep: It’s decent for a Fighting type move. But I felt like I need something else.
- Ice Punch: I was so excited to get this on my Primeape, this one definitely make my Primeape much better than before.
The Winning Combo
After a bunch of battles, I finally landed on a moveset that I really liked: Counter as the Fast Move and Ice Punch and Night Slash as the Charged Moves.
Counter just shreds through opponents, especially other Fighting-types or Normal-types. And then, Ice Punch and Night Slash give Primeape the ability to hit a wider range of enemies. With these moves, my Primeape felt like a real powerhouse.
So, there you have it. That’s how I figured out the best moveset for my Primeape in Pokemon Go. It took some trial and error, but it was definitely worth it. Now, my Primeape is ready to take on anyone!
