Alright, let’s talk about how I finally got around to making a log fence in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it would be, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
Getting Started
First things first, I needed the DIY recipe for the log fence. Now, I’d been playing for a while, checking the Nook Stop terminal every day, hoping it would pop up. No luck. I even asked around, but none of my friends had a spare. So, I went to the Nook Stop terminal, and checked the daily selection of recipes that you can buy with Nook Miles. There are two random recipes each day.

The Grind
I started hitting up every balloon present I saw, hoping for some good stuff like new items. It was a slow process, to say the least. I also went to my neighbors’ houses when I saw smoke coming out of their chimneys. That means that they are crafting, and they’ll give you the recipe they are working on. I just kept collecting materials, doing my daily chores, and hoping for the best. I did this for a few days.
Finally
And then, bam! One day, I checked in the Nook Stop terminal again, and it appeared! There it was, the log fence recipe, finally mine! I snatched it up so fast, I practically threw my Nook Miles at the machine. It only cost a few hundred miles. I was so excited!
Crafting Time
Next, I needed to gather the materials. Thankfully, it was just hardwood, which I had plenty of from chopping trees around my island. If you don’t have enough hardwood, just take your ax to the trees. The log fence recipe needs 6 hardwood per 10 pieces of fence.
- Hit up those trees: Grab your axe and get to chopping. Make sure it’s hardwood, not softwood or regular wood.
- Head to the workbench: I used the one in my house, but any workbench will do.
- Select the recipe: Find that beautiful log fence recipe in your DIY app.
- Craft away: I made a bunch in one go, figuring I’d need a lot to fence in my new garden area.
The Result
Finally, I started placing the fence sections. It was so satisfying to see it all come together. I used it around my garden. My island’s looking better than ever, and I’m pretty proud of my new log fence. It took some patience, but it was totally worth it!
So yeah, that’s my log fence story. If you’re trying to get it too, just keep at it. It’ll show up eventually, I am sure of it! Happy crafting, everyone!
