Okay, so, today I wanted to try and douse a Genesect. You know, Genesect, that Bug/Steel-type Pokemon from the fifth generation? It’s got those different drives that change the type of its Techno Blast move. I was curious about the one called the Douse Drive. What happens when you use it on Genesect? Does its Techno Blast become Water-type? Let’s find out.
First, I booted up my old Pokemon Black 2 game. I still had my Genesect from that event way back when. Lucky me, right? I made sure it was in my party and then I headed over to the Pokemon Center to grab the Douse Drive from my PC.

- Flew to Icirrus City.
- Ran into the Pokemon Center.
- Talked to the PC.
- Withdrew the Douse Drive.
- Put it in my bag.
Next, I needed to get Genesect to hold the Douse Drive. That was easy enough. I just opened my bag, selected the Douse Drive, and chose “Give” and then picked Genesect from my party. Boom, Genesect is now holding the Douse Drive.
Time for a battle!
I figured the best way to test this out was to find a wild Pokemon and use Techno Blast. I flew to an area with wild Pokemon, I think it was Route 5 or something, and ran around in the grass until I got into a battle. It was a Patrat. Perfect.
In the battle, I selected “Fight” and then chose Techno Blast. And guess what? It said “Techno Blast became a Water-type attack!” It’s super effective against my Patrat, and it was a one-hit KO.
So, there you have it. Giving the Douse Drive to Genesect turns its Techno Blast into a Water-type move. I tried it a few more times just to be sure, and yep, it was always Water-type. Pretty cool, huh? I guess that’s why they call it the “Douse” Drive.
That’s all for my little experiment today. I hope you found this interesting. Maybe I will try other drives next time! It was a fun little trip down memory lane with my old Pokemon game. Catch you guys later!
