Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Animal Crossing: New Horizons lately, specifically trying to get my island looking all lush and green. I was focusing on hardwood trees, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.
First, I grabbed a bunch of saplings. You know, the usual way – shaking trees, buying them from Nook’s Cranny. I had this grand vision of a forest-y vibe, so I went a little overboard. My pockets were overflowing with these little guys.

Planting Spree
Next, I started planting. I didn’t really have a plan, just stuck them in the ground wherever there was space. Big mistake. Turns out, trees need room to grow! I ended up with a bunch of stunted little things that looked more like bushes than trees. Not exactly the majestic forest I was aiming for.
So, I dug them all up. Yeah, it was a pain. My shovel almost broke, and I was sweating like crazy. This time, I tried to be more strategic. I spaced the saplings out, giving them plenty of breathing room. I even tried to arrange them in a somewhat natural-looking pattern, instead of just random clumps.
- Shook some trees for saplings.
- Bought a few from the shop too.
- Planted them all over the place, way too close together.
- Realized my mistake and dug them up.
- Replanted them with more space.
Waiting Game
Then came the waiting. Ugh, it felt like forever. I kept checking on them every day, watering them even though I’m pretty sure that doesn’t actually do anything for trees in this game. But hey, I was invested. I just wanted my hardwood trees acnh!
Finally, after a few days, they started to grow! And you know what? They actually looked like trees this time. Tall, leafy, the whole deal. My island is starting to look like a proper woodland now. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, even if it took a little trial and error.
So yeah, that’s my hardwood tree adventure. It was a bit of a mess at first, but I got there in the end. Now, I’m off to plant some fruit trees. Wish me luck!
