Okay, so I heard about this Fortnite Jujutsu Kaisen Cup thing and I was like, “What’s that all about?” I’m not a huge Fortnite player, but I do enjoy it from time to time. And I’ve recently gotten into Jujutsu Kaisen, so this seemed like a fun thing to try out.
First, I fired up Fortnite on my console. It took a bit to download the latest update, but that’s just the usual stuff. Once I got in, I went straight to the competitive tab to find the tournament.

I found the Jujutsu Kaisen Cup, and the rules seemed pretty straightforward. It’s a “Zero Build” duos tournament. That means no building, which is kind of cool and a bit different than the usual way you play Fortnite. It’s supposed to make the gameplay faster. I don’t have a fixed partner in the game, so I teamed up with a random player online. He seemed pretty chill, so we jumped into a game.
We dropped in, and man, it was chaos. Everyone was going crazy trying to get the new Jujutsu Kaisen abilities, like the Hollow Purple or the Straw Doll Technique. I managed to grab the Straw Doll Technique and, honestly, it was kinda fun. You shoot these cursed nails, and they do a pretty good amount of damage, plus you can get it quite easily.
- First match: We got absolutely wrecked. Didn’t even make it to the top 50.
- Second match: Did a little better, got a couple of eliminations with the cursed techniques, and placed in the top 30 or so.
- Third match: This one was the best. We were playing smart, avoiding unnecessary fights, and using the environment to our advantage. We ended up placing in the top 10!
Here’s how a few of my matches went:
After playing a few more matches, I started to get a feel for the best way to play in this cup. It’s all about positioning and picking your fights wisely. Since you can’t build, you gotta use the natural cover and try to get the high ground whenever possible. Also, those new Jujutsu Kaisen abilities are super important. If you can get your hands on them, they can really turn the tide of a battle.
In the end, I didn’t win the cup or anything, but I did manage to earn some of the in-game rewards, like the little Sorcerer’s School Crest spray and some new emoticons. It was a fun experience, definitely different from the usual Fortnite grind. I think I’ll keep an eye out for these special cups in the future. They’re a nice change of pace. This new experience also aroused my interest in going back to read the original manga. It was a worthwhile experience!
