Okay, so let’s talk about how I finally snagged myself a Shellder in Pokemon Go. It wasn’t a walk in the park, let me tell you!
First off, I started by doing some digging around. You know, checking out what other trainers were saying online. Seems like Shellder isn’t the most common Pokemon out there, so I knew this was gonna take some effort. I’ve been playing for a while, so I figured I needed a change of pace to improve my chances.

Changing up my routine
Normally, I just wander around my neighborhood, catching whatever pops up. But for Shellder, I decided to switch things up. I made a list of places that were supposed to be good for Water-type Pokemon – you know, near rivers, lakes, that sort of thing.
- Hit the local lake a few times a week.
- Tried walking along the river path during my lunch breaks.
- Even made a weekend trip to a nearby beach.
I started tracking when I was encountering Water-type Pokemon the most. It seemed like evenings were better, especially after it had rained. Go figure, right? I also noticed I was getting more Water-types when I used Incense near water, so I stocked up on those.
It took a while, many days of walking around with my phone out, looking like that one guy who’s way too into this game. I caught a ton of Magikarp, a few Psyduck, and even a couple of Goldeen, but no Shellder. I was honestly starting to think my game was glitched or something.
Finally got it!
But then, one rainy Tuesday evening, I was out by the lake, using an Incense and a Lucky Egg (gotta maximize that XP, you know?), and bam! There it was. A Shellder. On my screen. I nearly dropped my phone, I was so surprised. I held my breath, threw a Razz Berry, then an Ultra Ball, and prayed to the Pokemon gods.
And guess what? I caught it! I actually caught the Shellder. I might have done a little victory dance right there by the lake. Didn’t care if anyone was watching. It was a good day. Now, onto the next challenge, right?
