Alright, so I’ve been playing a ton of Pokemon Unite lately, and let me tell you, Zacian is a real pain to deal with. I mean, seriously, this dog is everywhere in the ranked matches. So, I decided to figure out how to counter this beast, and I’ve got some stories to share.
First off, I tried a bunch of different Pokemon. Initially, I thought, “Hey, I’ll just burst it down before it can do anything.” But man, was I wrong. This thing is tanky! It just wouldn’t die. I even remember one game where I was playing as, like, my trusty Cinderace, and I thought I had Zacian cornered. I used all my moves, but it just shrugged it off and proceeded to delete me.

So, after getting wrecked a few times, I started to do some digging. I read a lot, watched some pro players, and even tried to analyze my own replays. And guess what? There are some Pokemons that can give this dog a hard time.
The first one that worked really well for me was Buzzwole. I picked up Buzzwole and started practicing. It was rough at first, but I finally got the hang of it. This buff mosquito is surprisingly effective! It’s got a ton of mobility, can dish out some serious damage, and the lifesteal? Forget about it. I played a game where a Zacian tried to jump me, but I just used my mobility to dodge, landed a few hits, and healed back up. It was glorious. I finally felt like I had an answer to that annoying dog.
I also found out that Necrozma-Dusk Mane is a good pick. I don’t play it myself ’cause it’s not really my style, but I saw some folks using it to great success. Apparently, it’s super bulky and has some reliable recovery moves. So, yeah, if you’re into that kind of playstyle, you might wanna give it a shot.
- Buzzwole:
So, I practiced with Buzzwole a lot in unranked matches, trying to figure out the best way to play it. I tried different builds, different items, even different battle items, just to see what felt right. After a bunch of trial and error, I found a build that I really liked. It’s focused on, like, maximizing its damage and survivability, you know? With the right held items and a good understanding of its moves, I started to see some real results.
- Slowbro, Mamo, and Espeon:
I also had this one game where I was playing Zacian myself, just to see things from the other side, you know? And this team had a Slowbro, a Mamoswine, and an Espeon, all super coordinated. They just locked me down and, well, let’s just say my dog didn’t last very long. That match really opened my eyes to the power of teamwork and coordination. It was crazy how much a well-oiled team, such as the one with Slowbro, Mamo, and Espeon, can destroy a Zacian.
My Conclusion
So, yeah, dealing with Zacian can be tough, but it’s definitely not impossible. You just need to pick the right Pokemon, practice, and maybe even find a good team to play with. I still have a lot to learn, but I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of it. I hope that my experiences with playing Buzzwole and figuring out other good counters can help some of you out there who are also struggling with that darn dog. Good luck, and happy gaming!
