Okay, so, I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons for a while now, and I’ve gotten pretty into collecting art. There’s this one piece, the Gallant Statue, that I’ve been trying to get my hands on. It’s a replica of Michelangelo’s David, you know, the super famous one.
The thing is, you can only buy art from this shady fox named Redd, and he’s notorious for selling fakes. So, I had to figure out how to tell a real Gallant Statue from a fake one.

My First Encounter with Redd
The first time Redd showed up on my island, I was so excited. I rushed onto his little boat, the “Treasure Trawler,” and started browsing. He had a few paintings and a couple of statues, including the Gallant Statue. I was pumped! But then I remembered all the warnings about Redd’s forgeries.
Doing My Homework
I took some screenshots and then went straight to the internet. I searched for something like “Gallant Statue Animal Crossing real or fake.” I found a bunch of guides and forum posts. Turns out, the fake Gallant Statue has a pretty obvious tell – it’s holding a book under its right arm! The real one doesn’t have anything.
- First thing, I grabbed a bunch of screenshots on my Switch.
- Then, I hopped online, did some googling, and looked at a few different guides.
- The big thing I learned: the fake Gallant Statue is holding a book under its right arm.
- If there’s no book, it should be the real deal.
Back to the Boat
Armed with this knowledge, I went back to the game and looked closely at the statue. I zoomed in as much as I could, squinting at the screen. And guess what? No book! I was pretty sure I had found the real deal. I bought it right away, feeling like a total art detective.
Donating to the Museum
The next day, I ran to the museum, statue in hand, and donated it to Blathers, the owl who runs the place. He examined it carefully, and then… he confirmed it was real! I did a little happy dance right there in the museum. Blathers gave me some cool info about the real David statue, too, which was a nice bonus.
So yeah, that’s how I got my hands on a real Gallant Statue in Animal Crossing. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. Now I just need to keep an eye out for those other fakes. It’s like a whole art appraisal mini-game within the game!
