Okay, so, let me tell you about this little adventure I had with “Cult of the Lamb” on my Switch.
I snagged the digital version of the game, you know, right from the Nintendo eShop. Fired it up, and bam! I was hooked. Seriously, I sunk a good 10 hours into it, no problem. Building my cult, going on crusades, the whole nine yards. It was smooth sailing. Then, out of nowhere, the game started crashing. And I mean, like, all the time.

I’d load my save, get maybe a minute or two of playtime, and then boom – black screen, back to the Switch home screen. Super frustrating! I tried all the usual stuff. You know, I turned my Switch off and on again, classic move. Sometimes that seemed to help, but it was never a permanent fix. It kept happening, especially when I’d try to use a relic. Then I got to Darkwoods, and during the cutscene with Leshy, bam! Crash again.
Naturally, I went online to see if anyone else was having this issue. Turns out, I wasn’t alone. I saw tons of posts on forums and Reddit about people having similar problems. Some folks were saying it happened when they beat a certain boss, others when they tried to use certain items. I even tried updating the game, deleting and redownloading it, everything I could think of. But no luck.
One time, after beating the third boss the game crashed as expected. I then had to replay the fight, and had to use the martyr ability. This also caused a crash, but interestingly I kept the items from my playthrough. Weird.
I noticed that if I did a bunch of rituals back-to-back, or if there was a lot going on in the game, it seemed more likely to crash. It’s like the poor little Switch couldn’t handle all the action. It made me wonder why such a great game had such a basic problem.
Honestly, it’s a real bummer because I was really enjoying the game. But these crashes made it almost unplayable.
- Load the game.
- Play for a minute or two.
- Game crashes.
- Repeat.
If any of you guys have run into this and found a fix, let me know!
Anyway, that’s my story. I just wanted to share it in case anyone else is pulling their hair out over these crashes. You’re not alone! Hopefully, the developers will release a patch or something to fix this soon. Until then, I guess I’ll just have to keep my crusades short and sweet.
